Fort Collins Reads is a very special program that we have up here in Fort Collins, Colorado. For a little over a decade this group of volunteers has provided Northern Colorado with a variety of wonderful and noteworthy authors. Some that we’ve seen in recent years have been James McBride, Geraldine Brooks, Garth Stein, Julie Otsuka, and Erik Larson. The idea is to get as much of the community to read the same book as possible, and then to bring the author to town for a lecture/signing. This year is going to host another powerful writing force–Colum McCann. He has written several books, but is best known for “Let the Great World Spin,” which picked up a National Book Award. I recently finished LTGWS myself, and I’ve got to say that this year’s book is a real treat. A diverse cast of characters find various ties to a man who walked a tight rope between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. He’ll be speaking November 9, 2014.
