Review- Burning Glass by Kathryn Purdie

I feel like BURNING GLASS was catered to all of my YA book needs: Russian-flavored fantasy, a cool but not over-complicated magic system, a flawed but wonderful heroine, and the only kind of love triangle I can enjoy (one involving competing brothers!) The world-building was inventive yet familiar, and Purdie’s characterization was heartfelt, especially in regards to her three main characters, Sonya, Anton, and Valko. I think the Auraseer magic could have quickly gotten out of hand, but Purdie wrote it believably, deeply, and uncomplicatedly. I think this will appeal especially to fans of Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen, and Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha trilogy.
