Review-Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

Amani is sick of her life; sick of her small desert town, sick of her uncle and aunt that put up with her, sick of being a girl in a world ruled by men. When an exciting foreigner needs help, Amani helps him in exchange for getting out of Deadshot. When Jin, the exciting foreigner, chooses to travel with Amani to the big city their plans are changed and Amani is forced to confront a truth about her that will change her world. Djinni, deserts, romance…what isn’t there to love. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment! ~Teresa Steele

Really loved the world-building in this! Was expecting an earlier-era Arabian-themed fantasy but there are pistols and gunpowder, and the feel is very 19th century colonial Middle East (and there are some great critiques of colonialism in here as well.) A great and entertaining series start! Can’t wait to read more. ~Allison Senecal

More, I want to read more! ~Susan Wilmer
