Hello readers!
It seems absolutely insane that January is already over. Wasn’t it Christmas, like, three days ago?? Ah well. I’ve got to catch up, because we’ve got some amazing events in February to look forward to!
Spurred West with Ian Neligh!
When and Where: Sunday, February 9th at 2pm, here at the store!
We’re excited to welcome back Denver author Ian Neligh! We’ll be celebrating the release of Neligh’s latest spellbinding book of history Spurred West: Rogues, Treasure Seekers, Bounty Hunters, and Colorful Characters Past and Present.
Ian Neligh is an author, journalist, and screenwriter. He has received many state and national journalism awards for his reporting as well as awards for his humourous writing. In Spurred West, readers will discover fascinating true stories of the Old West’s greatest and most infamous characters of past and present, including gunslingers, rustlers, and more. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of the West come to life on the page.
An Evening with… Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha!
When and Where: Wednesday, February 12th at 7pm at the Fort Collins Hilton
We’re thrilled to be partnering with the CSU Friends of the Library and the Poudre River Friends of the Library to host author and pediatrician Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha! Come hear her speak about her book What the Eyes Don’t See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City.
Mona Hanna-Attisha is a physician, scientist, and activist. Her efforts brought the fight for justice in Flint to the national spotlight, and she has been called to testify twice before the United States Congress. What the Eyes Don’t See tells the dramatic story of how Dr. Mona used science to prove Flint’s kids were exposed to lead. Both a medical and scientific thriller, this book grapples with our country’s history of environmental injustice while telling the inspiring personal story of Dr. Mona.

Take a “Detour” with Thomas Evans!
When and where: Wednesday, February 26th at 6pm at the Museum of Art
We’re excited to partner with the Museum of Art Fort Collins to host artist Thomas “Detour” Evans. We invite you to help us celebrate the release of Evans’ new book Be The Artist: The Interactive Guide to a Lasting Art Career.
Thomas Evans, a.k.a. Detour, is an all-around creative specializing in large scale public art, interactive visuals, portraiture, immersive spaces, and creative directing. His book, Be the Artist, aims to be a go-to handbook as young artists enter the art world and begin navigating the nuances of becoming self-sufficient. It is designed to help up-and-coming creatives educate themselves on essential yet seldom-discussed strategies, learn about new and relevant artists, and gather the resources they’ll need to build their business.
There is also CSU’s Creative Writing Reading Series, which welcomes major literary voices to Fort Collins to share their work live on stage and to engage with the local community. This month, they’ve got award-winning poet Prageeta Sharma on Thursday, February 13 at 7:30 p.m. Check their website for more information.
And of course, there’s always DimeStories (on Wednesday the 12th this month), and the monthly book clubs.
We hope you’ll help us support all these fantastic authors and their books. You can always check the website or the Facebook events page for more details. You can purchase any of the books at their events, by clicking the titles above, or by calling the store to reserve a copy!
We hope to see you at any or all of these great events!
Happy reading!
