Tara’s Quarantine Reading List!

Hello readers!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve found myself with much more free time than I normally have, as I’m sure many of you have as well. I decided to go through my bookshelves and pull all of the books that I’m hoping to read during this time of “shelter in place.” If any of these peak your interest, click on the title to buy the book and read along with me!

The City We Became N.K. Jemisin
I read The Fifth Season and loved it, but have yet to read any other books by Jemisin.  Her newest caught my eye, as it is set in New York City, a place near and dear to my heart. I’m excited to jump into the world that she has created!

Trust Exercise by Susan Choi
Honestly, I don’t know a huge amount about this book. It’s set in the 80’s, two teenagers fall in love, and then some event happens that upends the characters lives. The cover is what actually first caught my attention, but after reading a short summary, I’m looking forward to see what this story brings.

Look Both Ways: A Tale Told in Ten Blocks by Jason Reynolds
Ten stories about what happens after the school bell rings. Reynolds has been on my TBR list for a while, and this seems like the perfect time to finally read one of his books.

Long Bright River by Liz Moore
An opioid crisis is taking over a Philadelphia neighborhood. At the same time, a girl goes missing while a string of murders has begun to take place. From the description, this doesn’t seem like the typically type of thriller that I like to read, but the reviews have been positive, so I’m curious how it will turn out.

Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock
This was a book club pick for the store’s “F-ed up Book Club.” I know that it has a husband and wife serial killer pair. And that sounds just f-ed up enough for me to be intrigued.

Severance by Ling Ma
Confession: this was my book club’s pick last month and I never ended up reading it (even though I chose it). A plague has taken over New York City and has completely obliterated it. Yea, seems appropriate to read at this time.

You can purchase or preorder any or all of these books by clicking on their titles above. If your order is more than $20, you’ll get free shipping while we’re closed for isolation!

Stay safe, and happy reading!
