Hello readers!

November events! We’ve got story times you won’t want to miss, history and fiction! We hope to “see” you at any or all of these events!


Virtual Story Time with Sandra Nickel
10:30am, Friday, November 6th

Old Firehouse Books is excited to be hosting another virtual story time! Join us in the morning on Nov. 6th for a special story time with author Sandra Nickel. She will be reading her book Nacho’s Nachos: The Story Behind the World’s Favorite Snack as well as leading the kids watching through a fun nacho-themed craft.

This event will be streamed live to the Old Firehouse Books Facebook page. The event is free but we do request that you register (via Eventbrite) in advance for the following reasons:

1. To help Sandra prepare a craft that is appropriate for everyone, we are asking parents to provide what age their kiddos are.

2. Registration allows us an easy way to update you if there are any changes to the event, as well as send a reminder about the event a couple days before it takes place.

This fun nacho event will be taking place on National Nachos Day! You can read and learn more about this holiday on the website here.


Virtual Story Time with Donna Guthrie “Flibbertigibbety Words”
10:30am, Tuesday, November 10th

Old Firehouse Books invites readers (of all ages) to join us for another virtual story time! On Nov. 10th author Donna Guthrie will be reading her new children’s book Flibbertigibbety Words: Young Shakespeare Chases Inspiration.

This event will be streamed live to the Old Firehouse Books Facebook page. The event is free but we do as that you register in advance (via Eventbite). This will give us a quick and easy way to update you if there are any changes to the event as well as to send a reminder of the event a couple days in advance. Those who register will also receive a Flibbertigibbety Activity Guide via email.

There will be a limited number of signed bookplates available for those who order a copy of the book. You can buy a copy of Donna’s book on our website here. Please indicate in the comment section of your order if you would like a bookplate (first come, first served).


Stephanie Harper “Wesley Yorstead Goes Outside”
6pm, Thursday, November 12th

Old Firehouse Books is excited to be welcoming debut author Stephanie Harper to our virtual event space. We hope you’ll join us the evening of Nov. 12th to hear her speak about her new novel Wesley Yorstead Goes Outside.

This event will be streamed live to the Old Firehouse Books Facebook page. The event is free but we do request you register in advance. This will allow us to contact you if there and changes to the event as well as to send a reminder about the event a couple days in advance.

When an agoraphobic man develops a relationship with a vivacious grocery delivery woman, the order he prescribes to his apartment, and his world, begins to crumble around him. Wesley Yorstead Goes Outside explores the life of Wesley Yorstead, a thirty-three year old graphic novelist who suffers from a severe case of agoraphobia that has kept him shut inside for over five years.


Gloria Chao “Rent a Boyfriend”
1pm, Saturday, November 14th

Old Firehouse Books practically swooned when they found out they would be hosting the wonderful and amazing Gloria Chao for an event! We invite lovers of YA rom-coms (and especially fake dating rom coms) to join us on Nov. 14th to hear Gloria speak about her new YA novel Rent a Boyfriend.

This event will be streamed live on the Old Firehouse Books Facebook page. The event is free but we do request you register in advance. This will enable us to contact you if there are any changes to the event as well as to send a reminder about the event a couple days in advance.

We have a limited number of adorable signed bookplates. If you would like a bookplate, please indicate so in the comment section of your order (first come, first served).


Gail Beaton “Colorado Women in World War II”
6pm, Tuesday, November 17th

Old Firehouse Books is excited to be welcoming Gail Beaton to our virtual event space! We invite you to join us on Nov. 17th to hear her speak about her new book Colorado Women in World War II. Attendees will enjoy a presentation and photo slide show.

This event will be streamed live to the Old Firehouse Books Facebook page. The event is free but we do request you register in advance. This will allow us to contact you if there and changes to the event as well as to send a reminder about the event a couple days in advance.

In Colorado Women in World War II Gail M. Beaton interweaves nearly eighty oral histories—including interviews, historical studies, newspaper accounts, and organizational records—and historical photographs (many from the interviewees themselves) to shed light on women’s participation in the war, exploring the dangers and triumphs they felt, the nature of their work, and the lasting ways in which the war influenced their lives.
