The yo-yo string of 2020 is dropping us once more into a new tense, awful moment. You might have heard that Larimer County has entered the “Red Zone” for COVID-19 cases. Due to rising case numbers and high risk situations, the county will be returning to much stricter regulations and restrictions on Tuesday.
We at Old Firehouse value our employees and our customers more than anything else, and we will not be waiting until Tuesday.
Starting Saturday, November 21st, we will be, once again, closing to the public. We will be returning to our lockdown practices in an attempt to keep each other safe and slow the spread of the virus. This means we will no longer be open to browsing–quite a drag during the holiday season, we know. But here’s how we can still get books to you safely.
There will be no browsing hours. The store will be closed to the public. We will still have one or two employees in the store at a time to facilitate curbside pick up, answer the phones, process orders, and receive books. You know the drill by now–since we are working with an even further reduced staff, phones will be clogged and the best way to reach us will still be by emailing email@example.com.
Curbside pick up and delivery ARE available. Though we will no longer be allowing customers to enter the store, you CAN still drop by to pick up your books at the curb. Curbside pickup is still available from 10am to 2pm. Order and pay for books over the phone or online, let us know when you’re outside, and we’ll bring books to you with no contact. We do ask that if you choose to avail yourself of curbside pickup, please wear a mask. This is for your safety as well as ours. Deliveries will continue to happen between 5pm and 9pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you have delivery questions, please read our driver’s FAQ post here.
Shipping is still the safest method we can get books to you. If you order from us online, we will happily package books and ship them to you via the USPS.
As always, you can help us out during this new stage of lockdown-ish-ness by buying on Bookshop.org (an affiliate site where you can order books and we’ll get a share of the profits), Libro.fm (our audiobook partner), or by donating to our GoFundMe. This is still ongoing from way back in April when we first went into lockdown. We’re about $4,000 away from our goal, and if we reach that, it will help us cover the loss of closing during the holidays.
You can read more about the Red Level parameters here, and see how they will affect you.
We thank you again, again, again. We really can’t say it enough. It’s been a long year and it’s going to be a long winter, but we’re going to get through it all together by supporting each other. We’ll support you with escapism in the form of new pages to turn, and you can support us by shopping locally. You’ve kept our lights on this long; we humbly ask that, once again, you help us keep them on a little longer.
Thank you for being wonderful. Thank you for understanding that we just want to keep everyone safe. Thank you for helping us stay safe. We hope you are able to remain healthy and weather this ongoing storm.
