Brittany Cavallaro and Racquel Marie

Brittany Cavallaro, author of the Charlotte Holmes series, introduced us to her newest book, Muse, an alternate history fantasy where magic may or may not be real, and one girl has to discover her power and how to use it. She’s interviewed by noted #BookTuber Racquel Marie, who has her own book coming out next year, and it’s a fabulous discussion of character you won’t want to miss!

Jillian Boehme and Mary E. Pearson

The second of our YA fantasy double-header event, we celebrated Jillian’s new book, The Stolen Kingdom! She and Mary (Dance of Thieves) talked writing process, where character names come from (daughters, sometimes!), and the importance of older role models in the world of YA writing.

Susannah Marren and Joani Elliot

Gender studies professor and novelist Susannah Marren joined us to talk about her new book, A Pal Beach Scandal! She and author Joani Elliot talked about family, the bond between siblings, the writing process, and the draw of scandal.

Dara Saville and Laura Cascardi

Herbalists assemble! Author of The Ecology of Herbal Medicine Dara Saville talked to herbalist Laura Cascardi of the Equinox Center of Herbal Studies, to chat about what got left out of the book (sequel soon?), best practices for harvesting, how to be a more sustainable herbalist, and their favorite herbs. The story of how Dara got into herbalism and the idea of listening to the plants when they perk up to see you were endearing and heartfelt, and this event was not only educational, but so much fun!

Jeffrey Shaw

Author, podcaster, TED-talker, and speaker Jeffrey Shaw presented his fabulous upcoming book, The Self-Employed Life in a pre-launch teaser event! He gave us a preview, reading from some of the chapters to prove that this business book is like no business book you’ve ever read. Part memoir, part self-help book, part business book, and all genuinely good advice for not only your business, but for life, Jeffrey and his book are SO worth the hour spent watching this!

Sandra Nickel

We welcomed Sandra Nickel back to our virtual event space for another lovely morning Story Time! This time, she read us The Stuff Between the Stars, her gorgeous new picture book about astronomer Vera Rubin, and showed us how to make a constellation in a cup!

You can watch any or all of these virtual events by clicking on their titles above, or by going to our Facebook Videos page, where they live along with all of our previous virtual events. And don’t forget to check out our calendar of Upcoming Events–we’ve got a few coming up in April, including a National Poetry Month Celebration!

We hope you enjoy these past events and we look forward to seeing you at any or all of the upcoming ones!

Happy reading!
